My Access Essay: Is being famous advantageous?

Fame might seem all play and no work, but what goes on behind the scenes makes being famous difficult and dramatic. There are a lot of fans.  Some fans could be  slightly insane, and they might start stalking you just like the paparazzi will. Even though you haven't done anything bad, rumors will be spread around about you. That's just the price of fame. Also, think of all the high expectations you'll be put to, and you'll always be expected to look perfect. Being famous isn't worth it, there are too many annoying things you'll be put through.
It doesn't matter whether you're extremely nice, or violently rude. Either way, you're going to have fans, paparazzi, stalkers, and haters. There are going to be pictures sent throughout the Internet of you, even if you didn't know they were taken. It could be something like you sneezing out a spaghetti noodle, and you'll get all kinds of bad publicity for just one small picture. You'll end up getting stalked to get more pictures of you for creepy people on the Internet. You'll never have privacy. All of this could lead to you getting physically injured, or mentally hurt. You could have your feelings damaged, or someone could be insulted by the image. You could possibly have said something that insulted someone and  they might come after you. Being stalked by paparazzi and crazed fans are definitely downsides to being famous.
Rumors will be spread around about you, even though they're not true, people can still get hurt from them. Many rumors can end up ruining a celebrity's good reputation. You could lose friends and colleagues from the smallest white lies. Possibly, you could even fall into a depression, kind of like Rebecca Black. She was criticized for her voice, and made fun of all throughout YouTube. Rebecca cried over all the hateful comments, and had a  very hard time getting over them. You could potentially get a bad self image due to all the lies that people are spreading about you. Rumors are obviously horrific parts of being famous.
One more terrible thing about being famous is being put to high expectations. Trust me, you will always be expected to look good. You cant just wear sweat pants in public. Everyday you'll be forced to put a serious effort into how you look, or people won't take you seriously. You can't just eat the food you want. Watching your weight is a serious must, and developing a diet to keep up your appearance is also a necessity. Plus, you might also be criticized on how you look. It seems if you don't look like all the other celebrities you'll, be judged just because you're different. High expectations are a terrible thing to have to be put to, especially when it comes to your looks.
Being famous seems marvelous and full of glory, but when you look behind the scenes, it's really just a mix of stalkers, rumors, and high expectations. All of your fans of will become obsessed and slowly begin to stalk you. There will be nasty rumors spread about you, even though innocent! People will always assume you'll walk outside and always look fabulous. All of the producers will have high expectations. Fame is not worth the trouble. It can ruin lives. Some people like the idea of living life in the fast lane, but I'm sure most people would rather avoid rumors, paparazzi, and high expectations.

Book Review: Define Normal

Book Review
The book, "Define Normal," by Julie Anne Peters is a book about two girls who seem completely different, but actually have quiet a bit in common. Jasmine, better known as Jazz, is supposedly a punk, with a really soft center. On the other hand, Antonia is a "goodie-two-shoes," who always obeys rules, but secretly has a crazy life with her family. Her mom is clinically depressed and she has to take care of her two younger brothers. The girls start counseling one another, it starts out rough and Antonia gets frustrated, but in the end the girls become  great friends. After long weeks of counseling, Antonia discovers her mom has went somewhat crazy and Jazz and her family help Antonia get through it. Antonia also helps Jazz become more outgoing with her talents and talks her in to doing a piano concert. Jazz and Antonia realize that they have much more in common than they believe, they end up becoming very good friends.

I think one of the lessons in this book is don't judge a book by its cover. Jazz seems to be a punk, but she's just like any other girl. She has aspirations, likes playing instruments, and makes friends just like everyone else. Another lesson I think you can find in this book is that even when things go wrong, they will get better. One way I saw this in the book is when Antonia's mother goes slightly insane. Even though Antonia went through tough times, her mom eventually got better and everyone was happy. Plus, Antonia and Jazz both made a new friend.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who might know someone who seems sour. You never really know someone until you take the time to listen or talk to them. I'd also recommend this book to anyone who wants to know what the true meaning of "Don't judge a book by its cover," is. This book is more for people into not just adventure, but people who are willing to take the time to read books that have a message in them.

I think I can relate to this book. For me, life can be difficult sometimes. I'd say that if you have troubles, it's a great idea to find someone you trust, and tell them your troubles. Even if life is hard sometimes, it's nice to have a reliable person to let you air out your issues. I know some people that have the same issue as me, it's a very common thing. These sort of issues are nothing to be embarrassed about! Everyone has some sort of trouble every now and then. Now if you think you're having some of the same troubles, I would suggest visiting a trusted website that you could air your feelings out on.

Don't fire the Nervous System!

Dear Human Body Corporation:

You shouldn't fire the nervous system! We have many needed organs and skeletal muscles needed to function properly. First off, we have the brain. The brain is a must have because it contains a small part called the  medulla, it's needed to live because it controls involuntary actions, like breathing. Another necessary reason to keep the nervous system is the spinal cord. The spinal cord helps receive and transmit messages from the brain throughout the body. Last, but not least, another good reason to keep the nervous system  is it's neurons. Neurons also transmit and receive messages but they're a lot smaller than the spinal cord, pretty convenient, ey'? Don't these seem like good reasons to keep the nervous system?
The brain is the "control center" for the body. It contains three main parts: the cerebellum, the cerebrum and the medulla. The cerebellum tracks your muscles and joints, this also helps keep track  of your body's position. The cerebrum is the largest part of your brain, it controls all your senses (touch, taste, smell, sound, etc.). Lastly, the medulla. The medulla controls all involuntary movement, (respiration, heart rate, blood pressure, etc.). Doesn't the brain seem cool? It should, because you can't live with out it.
The next thing that is very important is the spinal cord. The spinal cord sends impulses all throughout the brain and body. The spinal cord sends impulses about pain, temperature and many other things. One more thing about the spinal cord is it helps send the messages from the brain to the body. Don't you  see the trouble you would be in without a spinal cord? There would be so many problems trying to send messages to and from your body.
One more thing about the nervous system is its neurons. Neurons are basically a small version of the spinal cord. They send impulses and messages throughout the systems. Motor neurons send impulses throughout the systems, like the spinal cord. When muscles get motor neurons signals, they respond by contracting. Sensory neurons are responsible for controlling how your body reacts to things that happen around you, for example, a light turns on, your sensory neurons would adjust your eyes. All neurons send impulses to control your senses and such. Neurons are important, like the rest of the nervous system.

Don't fire the nervous system! You couldn't live without the brain. The spinal cord helps send impulses throughout the body to sense pain and such. Plus, neurons help you adjust to your changing surroundings and send messages through the body. These are all the reasons not to fire the nervous system. Even superman needs his nervous system.

Sincerly,
The Nervous System

Book Review : Gamer Girl

2/14/11
Book Review

The book, "Gamer Girl," by Mari Mancusi, is a book about a girl who moves to a small town because of her parent's divorce. In the beginning of the book, it's almost her birthday. Her first day at public school doesn't go well, and she has a hard time making friends. When Maddie, the main character, turns sixteen, her dad sends her a MMORPG (Massive multi-player online role-playing game) for her present. In the game, she meets a boy with the screen name, "SirLeo." She slowly falls in love with him , and then she figures out "SirLeo" goes to her school. She suspects its her friends Matt, but it turns out to be the popular boy Maddie likes. Maddie starts an anime club, then enters an anime contest. When chad, AKA "SirLeo" finds out "Allora" (Maddie's In-game name), he asks her out. They go to the anime book contest and Maddie wins.

I think one of the lessons in this book is love can be anywhere, and you can find it, even if you're not looking for it. Another lesson would be, don't let people make fun of you. You have to stand up for yourself. One more lesson in this book is don't be afraid to be yourself. It doesn't matter what other people think. These are the lesson I believe to be found in this book.
I would recommend this book to anyone who has been bullied, or anyone who's somewhat nerdy. It's exciting, funny, sad, and adventurous. It never gets boring, in fact, I read it twice. If I wasn't reading another one right now, I would read it a third time. I really liked the book, "Gamer Girl," by Mari Mancusi. I will definitely recommend this book.

5 Paragraph Essay

Save Trees, No Homework!

Imagine a beautiful rainforest, tons of plant life, exotic animals, and cute baby birds. Now imagine it being cut down. For what? Filthy extra work... Homework! Homework kills so many trees that provide oxegyn! Say you plan on doing something environmentally friendly, but then you remember you have math homework. What ever will you do? Instead of paying attention in class, you were trying to rush through your homework, how terrible! See how horrible homework is?

Visualize yourself in a sublime forest surrounded by gorgeous vegetation and playful creatures. Now pretend it all disappears. When you take away trees from the planet, it becomes close to nothing. No plants, no mammals, no birds, nothing. Would you really like to live in an ugly world like that? No, of course not! Think of the thousands of trees that are cut down, just for homework. Is it not bad enough we've already murdered hundreds of thousands of trees for other uses? One reason I believe homework is bad is because, we already kill tons of trees and the animals in them. Why make it worse?

There are hundreds of things more important and, or, more fun to do than homework; we all know it's true. Personally I'd rather be spending time with family or friends. Sometimes I also engage in after-school activities. Like wise, I believe in amusement time, such as, doing things you enjoy, hanging out with friends, and family, writing, drawing, ETC. It seems taking a break from work helps you think better. Sometimes it is completely needed to take a break from work. There are many things we'd rather spend our time on than homework, we all know it.

Getting homework can be a distraction. For example, say you got homework from your previous class and you're worried you might not finish it. What do you do? You finish it in class. Homework can be a total distraction! You'll be sitting in a class focusing on homework from two days ago, and miss any important dates, assignments, due dates, or progress reports. How awful is that? You think if you rush through it, you would get a good grade. But what about courtesy and respect grades in class? I think every person who receives homework wants to get it done quickly, but who knew it could actually make your grade worse. Isn't homework starting to sound cruel? You could miss many important lessons while doing homework in class. We all need to focus on school work, not homework.

Doesn't homework sound awful? It kills hundreds, even thousands of trees, animals, and maybe even people! Isn't it unbelieveable how much harm homework does to the enviorment? Who knows, homework could kill us in the future. Homework could also ruin your social life! Wouldn't it be awful if you had to miss basketball because of homework? Wouldn't it be awful to not know there's a test on Friday because you weren't paying attention in class?  Think of all the cute baby birds and squirrels we could save by not wasting trees on homework! I bet you Superman and Spongebob want you to save trees. They're probably against homework too, and know i bet you can understand why.

5 Paragraph Essay Practice

Kariel, The Best Celebrity There Ever Was!
When I grow up I think I'd make a great celebrity. I've always enjoyed pretending I was famous. One of my favorite things to do is hang out with famous people, and act out movies. I even have some experience at singing, acting, and talking about myself. I'm really responsible, I am fashionable, and I am very smart.

Responsibility has always come naturally to me. There was that time when I was left home alone and I cleaned the house. I'm always making sure I do all of my homework. Whenever I am told to do something, I always finish it. Being able to be responsible is the first step to becoming a celebrity.

Being fashionable is another thing I really enjoy. It's so exciting to be complimented on your clothes. When I'm being complimented I feel like I'm amazing. I am to fashion as, what a worm is to an apple. Being able to be fashionable the rest of my life would be amazing and helpful!

Being smart takes a special talent. I gained a lot of experience at reading, writing, and being around smart people. I learned a lot during school like, the ABC's.  For example, I can recite the alphabet in twenty seconds. The time I spent learning the alphabet is sure to give me an advantage when it comes to being a celebrity.

The three most important ingredients required in order to become a successful celebrity are responsibility, being fashionable, being smart, and I've got them all! I want to be famous. I'm never so happy as when I'm in the midst of being a celebrity. It's like Mr. Shoe Shine said "You've got talent!" When I am famous, I will be amazing, and that's why I'll be the best celebrity there ever was!'

Book Review : Far North

Far North, by Will Hobbs, is about a boy named Gabe who goes up north to a school in Yellowknife and meets a Dene boy who gets a little home-sick after leaving his town to go to school. He decides to head home and Gabe decides to come along for the ride. Clint (the pilot) decides to take a detour to see the Nahanni River, when their plane battery dies. They throw everything to shore, but forget one important thing. They try to save the plane, but they knew it was going to fall into the water. Clint ends up falling trying to save everything they left behind. Johnny Raven, Gabe, and Raymond end up getting stuck in the woods for the winter. Gabe and Raymond were lucky Johnny Raven was there to teach them how to survive. They end up running into bears and wolverines after Johnny Raven's death. The boys keep trying to get to the village and run into so many difficulties. Finally, after weeks of trying to survive winter, they reach Nahanni Butte and are finally safe.

A few of the main themes in this book is never give up or lose hope, always keep going. An example of this theme is when they both think they're going to die but they try to keep going anyways. Another theme would be to always be prepared for the worst. One example of this theme is how Gabe tries to get across an ice bridge but the bridge ends up slowly breaking and Gabe falls. If Raymond wasn't there he wouldn't have lived. Another example would be that they knew they had to chop lots of wood for a fire before it got too cold outside. Those are just a few of many themes in this book.

I would definitely recommend this to other 7th graders, because it is very adventurous and I find it quiet thrilling. I think that anyone would enjoy this book. Sadly there is not a sequel, but I would suggest reading other Will Hobbs' books. I think that I would definetly recommend this book to anyone I know because it is exciting.
